Quaterinary Ammonium compounds (Quats) are one of the most common agents used today in your commercial and household disinfectants. The other is Sodium Hypochlorite, or commonly referred to as "Bleach". The efficacy of disinfectants and sanitizers is measured using PPM (Parts Per Million), which is the amount of the agent present that actually kills germs, to water. The main difference between a "Disinfectant" and a "Sanitizer" is the level of PPM concentration recommended. The PPM varies depending on the agent used (chlorine bleach, quaterinary ammonium compounds, etc.).

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends careful hand hygiene as the "First Line of Defense" against germs & infections!
